For more than 85 years, Guernsey‑Muskingum Electric Cooperative has been part of the fabric of this community. We were built by our neighbors in 1938 to bring reliable, affordable electricity to rural Ohio — and every day since, we’ve worked to honor that promise.
This October, in honor of National Co-op Month, we’re launching a member-focused series called Power with Purpose that highlights what your cooperative does for you, both on and off the lines. In the months to come, you’ll learn how we keep power flowing to your homes and businesses, how we restore outages as safely and efficiently as possible, how our trained and dedicated employees work behind the scenes to serve you every day, and how we stay transparent about the cost of electricity and the work it takes to deliver it.
We’ll also share the everyday things that matter just as much: being easy to reach when you need help, keeping you informed during outages, making bills easy to understand, offering convenient ways to pay, and helping you use energy efficiently and find ways to save. And because we’re a cooperative, you’ll hear more about the commitment to community that guides every decision we make.
You’ve trusted us for generations. Power with Purpose is our way of showing what that trust looks like in action — and how your cooperative continues to put members first.
What does it mean to be a member of Guernsey-Muskingum Electric Cooperative?
- It means having an electric company that’s made up of your neighbors.
- It’s having a real person on the other end of the line when you need help.
- It’s knowing your electric company is a non-profit that invests in the communities it serves.
- It’s having access to safe, reliable electricity at historically stable rates.
