Guernsey-Muskingum realizes that situations may arise when members are unable to pay their electric bills. Often the Cooperative staff can be of assistance. The key to making payment arrangements is to inform the Credit Department of your intentions before you get far behind. The Credit Department is also knowledgeable of government agencies to which they may refer you for assistance.
The Member Services Department offers a free home energy audit to members who request it. This energy audit provides valuable conservation tips and energy improvement suggestions. We also can mail to you free suggestions for conserving energy, or answer questions over the phone.
For those members with electric heat, your winter bills obviously increase. GMEC offers a budget plan that will provide stability to your bills year round. Please call the Member Billing Department during the summer to discuss your budget options.
If someone in your household depends on in-home life support equipment, notify us immediately. We maintain an up-to-date record of all consumers who use electrically operated life support machines so we can give these consumers a high priority in restoring power during an outage. However, because we can not guarantee uninterrupted electric service, we strongly recommend that you have a backup power source and an emergency plan for extended power outages.
The Credit, Member Services, and Member Accounting Departments can all be reached at 1-(800)-521-9879 or refer to Contact Us.
